Fucking masterpiece. Read twice. Relate so hard. I sobbed to my girlfriend today and then accused her of calling me “gluttonous” (who even uses that term in earnest?) when she plainly asked if I ate the last cookie.
I fully relate and I’m afraid to report that perimenopause is actually worse. I did “give in” to a GLP-1 (Wegovy pill) and I don’t know it’s helped my mood overall but I can tell you the food shit is GONEEEEE. Which, sadly, is enough to snap me out of sadness most days lol
I just could not bring myself to do the shot. It weirded me out. My brother started the pill and had really great results, so I used him as my guinea pig for a few months (lol). I’m down 10 lbs in 6 weeks as of this morning which is more weight than I’ve been able to lose on my own in years. It is not magic, but it definitely moves things along when you’re doing everything else right. I hit a wall in my 40s; I was in a calorie deficit, trying every style of diet, working out, and I’d literally gain and lose the same 2 lbs for months. This has been a fucking GODSEND.
So happy to hear that. I’ve been struggling too. I feel like I have to be the strictest ever to lose maybe one pound and can’t enjoy a single thing. I’m mostly worried about gaining back after going off and/or having to be on it forever and I even hate taking Advil lol. We’ll see!
Also: perfect opening line and perfect closing line. Rarely can we perfect BOTH in one essay. Well done.
That means SO MUCH coming from you!!!
